When to Buy

Can the host participate in solving the mystery?
Absolutely! Since each character role is emailed directly to each player, even you won't know who the murderer is. You get to be a full participant and detective alongside your guests.
How many people can play these games?
Our games require at least 8 players but can accommodate up to 20, depending on the theme. Each game listing shows the exact number of players needed, so you can choose the perfect mystery for your group size.
Do I need to prepare anything before the party?
Minimal prep is required! Just enter your guests' email addresses at checkout, and they'll automatically receive their character roles. You'll get an instructional email with a few simple setup steps (including setting the scene with music, food, and drinks). Mr. E handles the rest!
How long does a typical mystery game run last?
Most games run for 1 hour, depending on your group's pace and how much time you spend socializing and getting into character. The beauty is you control the timing!
How long before the party should I purchase the game?

What do I do if someone cancels or doesn't show up?
While we strongly encourage stressing the importance of attendance, cancellations are sometimes unavoidable. We recommend that the host first attempt to find a replacement player who can take over the assigned character role. If a replacement isn't possible, you must ask the missing player whether they were assigned to be the murderer. If the character IS NOT the murderer: The game can continue without them, and their role is simply absent from the party. If the character IS the murderer: You, the host, will need to put aside your original role and take on the murderer's role yourself so the mystery can be solved. Have them send you their materials.
